USD 345 Job Title: Director of Security
Report to: Executive Director of HR and Operations
Job Goal: To ensure a safe and secure learning environment for USD 345 Schools and to work in partnership with all Directors, Principals, students and faculty.
Qualifications: 1. High School Diploma. 2. Kansas Certified Law Enforcement Officer. 3. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities. 4. Past Supervisory experience is helpful. 5. Minimum 5 years as Kansas Law Enforcement Officer. 6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities: 1. Chief of USD 345 District Police. 2. Supervise District Police Officer. 3. Maintain all requirements for the District Police Agency. 4. Maintain Law Enforcement certification by obtaining a minimum 40 hours of training through the fiscal year July 1 – June 30. To include weapon(s) CPOST certification. 5. Assist District Officers in obtaining yearly training. 6. Uphold Kansas Laws and Board Policy on and around district schools, facilities and document incidents with proper reporting. 7. Work with District Directors and Principals on security, traffic and other issues. 8. Assist other Law Enforcement Agencies and District Attorney’s Office. 9. Responsible for ensuring security at District sporting events and to work with Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office in obtaining deputies to work the events. 10. Transport Monies to Silver Lake Bank. 11. Responsible for responding to District alarms, plus the call back for alarms. 12. Responsible for adding and removing employees from the alarm systems. 13. Implement action plans, as needed. 14. Assign building keys at the High School. 15. Perform residential checks to ensure students live in the district. 16. Assist with the Crime Stoppers Program at the High School. 17. Promote a good working relationship with local Law Enforcement Agencies. 18. If man power allows, patrol district buildings and facilities.
19. Assist Department of Children and Families, as needed. 20. Assist District Principals with obtaining video of incidents occurring at buildings from the district video systems. 21. Assist in monitoring hallways and the lunchroom at the high school, if available. 22. Ensure the Kansas Bureau of Investigations receives the monthly Zero and UOF reports. 23. Ensure District Officers maintain a record of incidents and evidence is stored and disposed of properly. 24. Testify in court or suspension hearings, as needed. 25. Maintain the parking procedure for students and faculty at the High School. 26. Maintain control of parking lot fees to be used for the District Police budget for small items needed. 27. Assist Principals with student issues, as needed. 28. Transport students to juvenile intake, Shawnee County Department of Corrections, or possible treatment facilities, as needed. 29. Ensure all crimes occurring on district property are investigated properly. 30. Assist administration with social media issues, as needed. 31. Yearly, maintain USD 345 District Police Policies (standard operating procedures) to make sure they are up to date and compliant. 32. Assist District Schools with Lockdown and Safety drills. 33. Field security complaints by patrons, students, faculty or parents. 34. Assist Principals with implementing particular student behavior plans if they want assistance, an example would be if the student is combative. 35. Responsible for District Door access control (Fob system). 36. Chair District Emergency Operation Plan as well as maintain and assist with the District Emergency Operation Plan. 37. District surveillance system, monitor, assist administration in watching video of incidents, make sure equipment is in working order, add equipment to update the system yearly. 38. Responsible for district alarm system. 39. Maintain the District radios by order new radios and parts. 40. Work extra duty at sporting events paid the additional security fee. 41. Report all officer training hours to Kansas Cpost. 42. Take reports to the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Officer, Kansas Bureau of Investigations and evidence to KBI for testing as needed. 43. Attend district administrator meetings, along with other meeting you are requested to attend. 44. Speak in classrooms on Law Enforcement related issues. 45. Prepare evaluations for district police officers. 46. Ensure a safe and secure learning environment.
47. Other duties as assigned.
Evaluation: Executive Director of HR and Operations will evaluate the Performance of this job annually.
Terms of Employment: Twelve Months July 1- June 30
